Audio Mixer Widget Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 29, 2026

Audio Mixer Widget ("the app") is a desktop app from EERIE that shows a volume slider for every app playing sound on your computer. The app has no accounts and no sign-in. This policy explains what the app handles, and what happens when you use its optional phone control.

What we collect

Nothing, unless you switch on Remote control, described below. Audio Mixer Widget has no user accounts, no analytics and no advertising.

Your apps and your audio

To draw its sliders, the app reads from Windows the list of apps currently playing sound, their names, their volume and mute settings, and how loud each one is playing right now. Audio itself is never recorded or saved, and the app does not use your microphone.

Where your settings are stored

Your preferences (always on top, dim level, meter mode, opacity, whether the usage line is shown, and the last control mode) and the window position are saved on your own computer, in the app's own storage. They never leave your device.

App usage line

The settings panel can show how much processor, memory and disk space the app itself is using. These figures are measured on your computer, shown on screen and never sent anywhere.

Local control (same Wi-Fi)

Local control is off until you switch it on. When it is on, the app serves a page on your local network at the address shown in the app. Any device on the same network that opens that address can see the names of the apps playing sound, their volumes and levels, and change them. Nothing is sent outside your local network. Switch it off in the app to stop it.

Remote control (away from home)

Remote control is off until you click it, is never switched on when the app starts, and switches itself off after 15 minutes with no phone connected. When it is on, the app and your phone both connect to our relay server at relay.eeriegoesd.com so they can reach each other from different networks.

The list of apps, their volumes, mute settings and levels, and the changes you make from the phone, are end-to-end encrypted on your devices (AES-256-GCM, with a key made from the pairing code shown in the app) before they are sent. The relay only passes on data it cannot read, and does not keep it. The password part of the pairing code is never sent to the relay.

To run the service, the relay processes:

Relay logs are kept in memory (up to 10,000 entries) and are lost when the server restarts. Fly.io, which hosts the relay, keeps platform logs for up to 7 days. Nothing is written to a permanent database.

Other network use

Apart from Local and Remote control, Audio Mixer Widget works fully offline. The only other time it opens a connection is when you click a link inside the app, such as "Support This Project", "Report Issue", "Discussions" or "Feature Request", which opens that web page in your default browser. Those are third-party websites that operate under their own privacy policies.

Third parties

Audio Mixer Widget contains no third-party trackers, advertising SDKs or analytics libraries. The relay server is hosted on Fly.io, whose privacy policy applies to their infrastructure. We do not sell or share data with anyone.

Third-party distribution

If the app is obtained through the Microsoft Store or another platform, that platform may process data related to download, purchase and licensing under its own policy. This policy describes only what the Audio Mixer Widget app itself does.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to request access to data about you, request its deletion, or object to processing. Audio Mixer Widget has no accounts and keeps no personal data; the only records are the short-lived relay logs described above. If you have concerns, contact us below.

Children's privacy

Audio Mixer Widget does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children.
