Frequently Asked Questions

What is a holiday leave optimizer?

A holiday leave optimizer (also called a bridge day calculator or PTO maximizer) analyzes your country's public holidays and weekends to find the best dates to take paid leave. By placing leave days next to existing days off, you get the longest possible consecutive breaks from the fewest leave days.

Is my data private?

Yes. Everything runs in your browser โ€” no data is sent to any server. Holiday data comes from the open Nager.Date API, but your leave selections never leave your device.

Which countries are supported?

Currently 26 countries including the US, UK, Germany, France, Japan, Brazil, India, and more. Public holidays are fetched automatically. You can also add custom holidays manually by clicking any day on the calendar.

How does the optimization algorithm work?

The optimizer evaluates every possible placement of your leave days and scores each by efficiency โ€” total consecutive days off divided by leave days used. It prioritizes placements that "bridge" gaps between weekends and holidays, giving you the most time off per leave day spent.
